Things are still progressing…

It has been a little quiet here since July.

Not because nothing has been happening.

Quite the opposite.

Behind the scenes, I have been steadily working toward something I have imagined for a very long time: holding a finished copy of The Earl’s Undoing in my hands.

And I am closer than ever.

There are still details to finish before I can give you an official release date, but I am planning for a fall release—and lately, the work has begun to feel less like writing a book and more like preparing to actually send one out into the world.

That is both thrilling and, if I am being perfectly truthful, a little terrifying.

I've been working through the final stages of the manuscript and interior, designing and refining the cover, preparing the front and back matter, and attending to all those seemingly tiny details that somehow become very important when a story is about to become a physical book.

One of my favorite parts has been the design process.

As a visual artist, I knew from the beginning that I wanted the appearance of The Earl’s Undoing to feel connected to the world inside it—not simply like a historical romance cover, but like this historical romance. Bennet and Kate's story has its own atmosphere, symbols, colors, and visual language, and I have loved finding ways to weave those pieces into the finished design.

I hope to share more about that process here soon, including some of the choices behind the cover itself.

There is another exciting little milestone coming as well.

In less than two weeks, I will be participating in another local art market. I had once hoped I might have physical copies of The Earl’s Undoing ready to place on my table by then. The book, however, has apparently decided that it would prefer I give it the time it needs rather than the time I originally scheduled for it.

Fair enough.

So there will not be finished books for sale just yet.

But The Earl’s Undoing will still be coming with me.

I am beginning to think about how my writing belongs alongside my artwork at these events, because the two have never really felt separate to me. They are simply different ways I tell stories.

And this fall, one of those stories will finally become a book.
